Silvia Loreggian

Born: I grew up in Padova, a city in the Po Valley (North-East of Italy).

Lives: I live in Alleghe, a town in South-East Dolomites. It's in the middle between Civetta and Marmolada.

Fave colour: Green and orange!

Fave mountain snack: Dried fruit and nuts... Delicious at any time!!

What do you love most about being a mountain guide?

I love living my daily life into the nature and sharing my passion for it.

What inspired you to become a guide?

I've been inspired by the awareness that alpinism is the only activity I can do anytime with enthusiasm. I improved my skills and my level and I realised that it would be amazing sharing my knowledge with other people.

What’s the most valuable lesson you have learnt?

I've learnt that it's in the nature with a "stressful" day of activity that you discover the real attitude of people.

What's your proudest moment?

My proudest moment has been when I summited Monte Bianco for the first time by the Peuterey ridge: a long two days traverse up and down lot of tops and ridges and bivy under the stars.

What's tough about your job?

I think it's a job you do first of all because it's a passion and so, the way you do it it's really special. For me, it's the best job on earth.

What advice would you give the next generation of female mountain guides?

Be strong and be numerous!!

Name a fact about yourself not many people know (that you're happy to share).

I love travelling and in several different way: by bike, by hitch-hiking, by walking.. I like enjoying the real roots of the place I visit by original way.
