Alpine Stories Winter Series: Founders' Stories

Alpine starts, mountain obsessions and experience lead lessons. Join us for the first of our Alpine Stories Winter Series! Louise, Lizzie and Jenny, founders of the Women's Alpine Adventure Club, share their Alpine Stories and how they merged to found WAAC. Each story will wisk you away to our favorite routes in various mountain areas, some of which you may have heard of, and some you may wish to add to your future tick list. The paths that lead us to each other are varied but our passion for adventure in the mountains is shared.

Bios:

Louise Kennedy discovered mountaineering and climbing in her late twenties and after a stint in a van climbing around France, she settled in Pelvoux in Ecrins National Park where Women’s Alpine Adventure Club held their first summer meet. Louise was a UK mountain leader before going to France and now works remotely on her laptop so she can travel and enjoy mountain life.

Jenny Dart grew up climbing in the South West of England and soon developed a love for wild spaces and the mountains. Promises of bigger hills soon drew her to the Alps and she has been returning to explore different regions regularly. Jenny is currently based in North Wales.

Lizzie Barile-Page cut her teeth as a climber on Cornish Trad Sea-cliff routes. Her love of multi-pitch and passion for heights lead her to Alpine pursuits. She’s now based in Bristol to be close to trusted training partners, great rock routes and an international airport to escape on epic mountain adventures.
