These meet ups aim to enable new and existing members to share skills, build links and prepare us for our upcoming trips.
We'd really encourage anyone who is considering coming on our main alpine trips to come along and meet others so you have climbing partners/adventure buddies on the week and you can start hatching plans!!
The plan will be to meet up in an area, everyone book their own accommodation (we will give suggestions), and get out practicing skills, sharing ideas and have fun!
We will be relying on people figuring out their own transport to venues etc, but hopefully there will be enough people with cars to get people to the right place. Bangor has a train station with good connections if anyone needs to arrive on train. We will all meet on Saturday morning in a café, make plans and group up and then all meet up again on Saturday evening for a meal.
If there's a few people who feel they need an Instructor, you can join up and get one.
We would expect that people attending can tie in and belay (basically competent in the indoor wall) and fitting with our club ethos, we will do our best to facilitate learning and skill sharing. However, this will rely on everyone pitching in and getting involved!!
PLEASE NOTE THAT OUR CLUB DOES NOT HAVE EQUIPMENT TO LEND OUT AND SO EVERYONE WILL NEED THEIR OWN PERSONAL EQUIPMENT (Harness, Helmet, Shoes). Please be prepared to use your own gear and ropes - if you do not have this equipment we will share within the club ethos if happy to do so.
We would hope to cover Sport, Trad and Mountain scrambling/walking as appropriate.
If you are interested in coming on one of these weekends please email jennydart@btinternet.com stating:
Which weekend you would like to come
Where you are coming from
Whether you have a car that you can bring for lift sharing over the weekend/whether you would be interested in a lift share
Whether you feel you would need an instructor and what for
If you feel you could share skills with others (trad, sport and/or scrambling)?
We will then be in contact with ideas on where to stay and what to do, plus try and link everyone up beforehand.
Any feedback or help in organising these weekends would be gratefully received.
